NY Times Article on Racism in South Korea
So, a lot of friends sent me this article on racism against biracial couples in South Korea. It will be interesting when Doug comes to visit in January. Definitely no PDA in enclosed spaces like subways, buses, or cabs - I don't want to get yelled at!! It will be interesting.... it will also be interesting hearing him attempt to speak Korean... his Italian accent was bad enough in Rome, hehehehe.

like the article says, they tend to romanticise westerners. so if the article and stereotypes stand true, if anything negative comes your way, it's out of jealousy that you're with a SUPER TALL white dude. : )

ReplyDeleteEthnic homogenity in a country that has been invaded countless times in the past...whu? I guess this probably has at least something to do with this mindset, though.
ReplyDeleteUsually when a society makes something irrational a taboo, the result is that it becomes more desirable...eh, give it a generation and it will work itself out. I don't think passing legislation in this case will do much of anything to change opinions. Education seems more productive.
